A Special Gift for the 10th Anniversary NaNoWriMo

Cybele May @ Thu, 2008-10-30 16:45

National Novel Writing Month just might be easier to fit into your schedule this year.

Only one other time in history (2003) has the calendar cooperated so nicely with swift noveling pursuits. November 2008 starts on a Saturday and ends on a Sunday. This means that there are five weekends in November 2008. This means that there are ten weekend days.

This is great news to those who need the weekends to catch up on noveling. (As I am one of those people.)

For those in North America we get another special treat added to this five weekend month, an extra hour on Sunday morning for Daylight Savings Time.

2008 loves novelists.

This won't happen again until 2014, then the next Nano with 5 weekends will be 2025!

5 weekend years:
2031
2036
2042
2053

And you forgot to mention (for those in North America at least) Memorial/Rememberance Day...yet another reason to love the vets. :)

Chris, I do love that this November has so many weekends!
But I have to say something else...
Thanks so much for all that you do to keep Nanowrimo up and going and for your inspirational words!
My newest favorite thing about the website is the speed with which it reacts to my clicking (is that the new server kickin' booty?) and also the "progress report"...how cool! I never noticed that before. Now I have something to really keep me in check. Must make certain to get the right amount of words in each day, it's all right there!
Thanks again, all of your team at Nanowrimo is doing a fantastic job!
:-) Claire

No waaaay :3 Maybe it's good for you Northern Hemisphere people, but for us Southerners it falls right in our Exam month. Year 12 exams, year 11 exams, and year 10 exams.
But this year it started on our Melbourne cup weekend, which meant we had four days off to start with!
So, maybe they balance out?

I know. I woke up early Sunday because of DSl and got more words in.

November is good for novelists, but not the NaNoWriMo website. Does anyone know why the word count validator is grayed out? I can't update my word count at all (which the website thinks still stands at zero).

I'm only posting here because the forum page is not loading at all.

Thanks for any help!

It's also a good thing for anyone in the United States that has Thanksgiving usually stealing a weekend. Now there's an extra one to make up for it.

Noooooooo!

It's going to be a short and hectic NaNo for us moms who do most of our writing on school days. :P

Yay for the extra hour though! :)
