Our neighborhood, unveiled

Last Thursday the city of Oakland threw a big party to celebrate the "unveiling" of Uptown, the neighborhood where OLL has lived for the last three years. The neighborhood has really come a long way since we moved in, with a ton of great new cafes, bars, and the beautifully restored Fox Theater opening up in the past year. It's an exciting place to be!

Anyway, during the street party, our Development Director Elizabeth and I snuck up into a condo open house and I took this picture down onto the street party below. It showcases the great Fox theater sign, OLL's building, and the enormous black arrow that looms over our office day and night.

Has anyone out there in NaNoLand been to this part of Oakland recently? Does anyone else live with a looming arrow?

Yay, Oakland!

Chris

I literally live right in Downtown Oakland. So funny - I've been following NanoWriMo and just bought the "No Plot? No Problem" kit while I was visiting in Los Angeles, but had no idea you were local. I'll definitely be joining in next year and picking my own month this year to get started!

I live a few BART stops down the block from you guys. We just moved there, so our looming arrow has yet to be installed. I might go some day to check yours out up close in an attempt fill the hole left by the absence of ours.

Well I don't exactly live with the looming arrow but know the area well. I'm on the opposite side of the hills but hey I've been over there a few times. If I had known your office was RIGHT THERE I would have dropped in (well maybe not).
