Die Peperoni im Heu (The Pepper In the Hay) - Mandarinente

One day Matilda the cow finds in her rack for fodder a red pepper. This odd vegetable fascinates Matilda . It seems to her to be a greeting from a strange and totally alien world. Matilda absolutely wants to find out where this plant comes from and betakes without knowing it, a long and adventurous journey.

We hope you're enjoying this project! We've been name-checked over at Design Milk, which is kind of cool. Have y'all ever picked up a book because of its cover in a store? Which one?

This looks like the cover of an art film! It's crazy and bizarre, but it's done in a way that catches your attention and makes you want to read what the book is about. Pretty awesome!

Hi Dora Ann,

I'm glad you're enjoying Fwis' covers! I just searched Amazon for those book titles to check out the covers of the novels you mentioned and they're beautiful. I'm a fan of the cover for the latest edition of Catch-22. It's super iconic!

Hi!

Oh man, we could use an expert on 404s around these parts. Haha, thanks for the heads-up! What social networking company do you work for? Haha, sorry, naturally inquisitive.

And that's an amazing word count, congratulations! I need to get my butt in gear. - Tim

I may have misrepresented the actual words, but this quote is from an old Zen saying. In short, sometimes you don't make progress because your mind is stuck trying to define what progress looks like...just let your feet do their thing and progress may define itself for you. (Obviously, Zen wouldn't let me define the concept this clearly, but you get the drift.)

I say this because I only suffer from one kind of "writer's block"...that due to not knowing if the next thing I write will represent what my mind is picturing or simply look like a meandering babble. I am confronted with this all the time, especially since my story ideas frequently take the shape of movie-like visuals and/or emotionally-defined actions. But, once again, by simply trusting my fingers to do their thing, my mind was forced to stop looking for the path and instead found its path by taking it.

I've "won" the NANOWRIMO before, but I'm concerned that I won't make it this time due to my switching to a graveyard shift (starting the week before 11/1) and how that has completely jumbled all my routines. Nevertheless, I plan on plugging away because this story idea has been floating around in my mind for years and I need to get it out.

And, my advice to you is to sometimes just "let your fingers do the talking" and you'll eventually say all you mean to say. Good Writing!

Hi, Tim!

Someone forgot to include the "Http://" part before "Blog.Nanowrimo.org" on the main page where your interview is... It says "404'd!".

I work for a social networking company, so I guess you can say I'm an expert in 404s, lol ;) Love the work you're doing here... Can't wait for more! I've just crossed 26K myself, and I'm aiming for 42 before tomorrow's over!
